BEHAVIOR OF SELF COMPACTING CONCRETE BY REPLACING CEMENT WITH FLYASH AND GGBS
Abstract
This paper presents the comparative performance of Self compacting concrete (SCC) manufactured with Flyash (FA), GGBS based on fresh and mechanical properties. Seven concrete mixtures were investigated. FA SCC mixture had cement replacement of 30%and 40%, while GGBS SCC mixtures had 30%, 40% replacement. Then Flyash is partial replaced by 50% Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS), all these six mixtures is compared with Normal SCC (100% cement). The water – cementitious material ratio is 0.40. Tests were carried out on all mixtures to obtained fresh properties such as flowability, viscosity (assessed by rate of flow), and passing ability as well as mechanical properties such as compressive strength, flexure strength, split tensile strength. The influence of percentages of FA or GGBS cement, dosage of admixture on the properties of SCC was critically reviewed. The result showed that as SCC with desired properties could be successfully developed by incorporating FA, GGBS cement based SCC satisfying the target strength of 30MPa.
